JIHLS welcomes contributions from academics and practitioners alike. Contributions should in some way address the application of international law to humanitarian crises, including armed conflicts and natural disasters.

We publish two main categories of papers: articles (8,000–10,000 words) and notes (approximately 4,000 words). We also publish book reviews (500–1,500 words) and book review essays (2,000–4,000 words).

We are only able to accepts online submissions. You should submit your manuscript via Editorial Manager , our online submissions manager. Please familiarise yourself with the Instructions for Authors prior to submitting a manuscript.

Articles by authors under the age of 35 or within 8 years of completion of their PhD are automatically considered for the JIHLS Annual Prize.
